About the Film
My Tree follows Jason Sherman's journey to find the tree planted in honor of his bar mitzvah in 1976 in Israel. When he discovers that it stands on the remains of a Palestinian village that was destroyed in 1967, he embarks on another journey — to determine his responsibility in helping to cover up the destruction.

The film received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary at the 10th Canadian Screen Awards in 2022, and Ben Lawrence won the award for Best Editing in a Documentary. The film premiered at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival.
