The Palestine Museum US cordially invites you to celebrate the end of a busy year of art exhibits, musical concerts and cultural events. The event will be catered by Moustache restaurant serving a variety of Middle Eastern delicacies.
On April 22, 2018, the first Palestinian museum in the Americas opened its doors to visitors. Our dream was to create a space to preserve Palestinian history and heritage; a unique space to showcase the Palestinian experience and tell the story of the Palestinian people through the arts, including paintings, sculpture, embroidery, film and literature.
Today, less than two years since its inauguration, the Palestine Museum US is emerging as a beacon of hope on the Palestinian horizon. With an exhibition space of 6,000 square feet, the museum features a collection of over 100 works of art, hundreds of photographs and many historical artifacts from different periods of Palestinian history. Over the last year, the museum hosted over 30 musical, art and cultural events featuring Palestinian artists, musicians and writers at the Museum in Connecticut and in Boston, New York, Washington DC and Dallas.
And our work is having a real impact! Many of the thousands of people who visited the museum, attended one of our events, or watched media coverage about the museum, were seeing a side of the Palestinian story they had never seen before. Through the arts, we highlight the historical injustice that was inflicted on the Palestinians and continues to be inflicted on them daily. We show how Palestinian artistic talent and excellence triumph over hardship and injustice to tell the true story.
Our goal over the next year is to continue with our mission and to expand the museum’s collection and geographic reach, and to further develop its role as a premier platform for showcasing and celebrating the Palestinian experience. We hope to bring more Palestinian artists, musicians and writers to the US and expand the number and location of events we organize to reach a much wider audience. We are planning new important art exhibits that in the past were not thinkable in the US.
We invite you to join us at this event to support the museum and its mission. Let’s change the discourse about Palestine. The time to do that is now.
