Click here to register for event.

Join us live via Zoom this Sunday for a conversation with two Palestinian Artists. As Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts programs award their degrees, and students complete their studio and written theses ending a spring of online teaching and learning, we congratulate all those students and teachers and welcome Ruba Hamdan and Ibrahim Alazza who will describe the changes, advantages and disadvantages of experiencing their final semester online. The two artists will discuss their work, approach, how their personal experience influenced their art, and main ideas they seek to communicate through the art.

Participating artists

Ruba Hamdan

Ruba Hamdan is a Master of Fine Arts Candidate in Painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, (U.S.) and Fullbright Scholar there. With a history of solo exhibitions at Fatoush Gallery and at the Baladna Association for Arab Youth, both in Haifa, she has also exhibited internationally in group exhibits in Florence, Italy, the US and Palestine. Ruba served as an intern at the Palestine Museum US, recently curating the current exhibit, “50 women artists telling the Palestinian Story”.

Ibrahim Alazza

Ibrahim Alazza is originally from Al-Azza Camp in Bethlehem, but grew up in East Jerusalem, where his Palestinian parents still live. He later worked in Ramallah prior to his MFA studies at Boston University. He has completed his studio thesis and MFA studies and looks forward to his virtual graduation. As his family, in East Jerusalem, cannot join him, the community you are all part of, at the Palestinian Museum US will serve as his family, congratulating him on this occasion, and seeing and hearing his explanation of his studio thesis. In his thesis project, “All That Remains”, Ibrahim has curated “the Palestinian Narrative by exploring the collective memory of Palestine over the last 100 years” symbolizing that narrative in a unique way. Please join us to see and hear how Ibrahim has creatively used the patterns and form of the kefiyah to achieve this. This Event is Free but Registration IS Required.
