Please join us for a recorded conversation with Palestinian political cartoon artist Mohammad Sabaaneh. He talks about how he get started in the cartoon business, some of his best works, and the challenges he faces.

About Mohammad Sabaaneh

Mohammad Sabaaneh, (Jenin 1978) cartoonist and caricaturist, has collaborated since 2002

with several Arab newspapers, including Al-Hayat al-Jadida, and in Italy his cartoons are often published by magazines such as Internazionale, Left, Fumettologica. He taught at the Arab American University of Ramallah. He is a member of the International Cartoon Movement and representative for the Middle East of the Cartoonists Rights Network International Network.

He has received many awards, both in Arab countries and around the world, as well as numerous personal exhibitions, he has participated in several international publications in Europe and in the Middle East. Georgetown University used his caricatures for scientific research. In 2017 he was invited as the most influential intellectual to represent the Palestinians at the United Nations. In the same year, Sabaaneh received first prize at the Estaque International Caricature Festival in Marseille.

“Racconto Palestina”, published In Italy in September 2023 by Mesogea with the support of Palestine Museum US, it had already been published in 2021 in the United States under the title “Power Born of Dreams”, won the prestigious Palestine Book Awards 2022 in UK.

Sabaaneh is an artist and activist. He was arrested in 2013 by Israel at the Allenby bridge and subjected to administrative detention.
