German journalist and director, Monica Maurer moved to Beirut in 1977 and became involved in the Palestinian resistance by producing, with the Palestinian Cinema Unit within the PLO, a series of documentaries on the daily lives of Palestinians including “Children of Palestine” (1979), “The Fifth War” (1980) with Vanessa Redegrave, “Born of Death” (1981), “Why?” (1982) and “Palestine in Flames (1988). Today, she devotes her time to preserving the film and photographic archives of Palestine. - La Presse de Tunisie
