About the Film
My Tree follows Jason Sherman's journey to find the tree planted in honor of his bar mitzvah in 1976 in Israel. When he discovers that it stands on the remains of a Palestinian village that was destroyed in 1967, he embarks on another journey — to determine his responsibility in helping to cover up the destruction.
The film received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary at the 10th Canadian Screen Awards in 2022, and Ben Lawrence won the award for Best Editing in a Documentary. The film premiered at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival.
About the Director
Jason is a screenwriter who has been producing content since 2006. He wrote, produced, and directed three award winning feature films as well as short films, web series, music videos, and commercial work in the technology industry. He has a knack for transforming his creative visions from paper to the screen effortlessly.
Jason Sherman is also a successful innovator, published author, tech startup expert, and has a background in journalism.
