About the Film
Orphaned by the holocaust, 90-year-old Jacques Bude recounts his time in post-war Israel, and why his experience with genocide compelled him to the Palestinian cause.
Director Statement
Jerusalem-born filmmaker and researcher This film was made in a very intimate fashion. After an initial sit-down interview, I spent several days with Jacques in his apartment- just he and I and my camera. I followed and observed as he went about his daily routine. Here and there we would chat, and eventually he showed me his archive of photographs. I tried to convey a sense of the beautiful and nostalgic space Jacques has created for himself, which to me resonates somehow with his life story.
This is Jacques' story as it was told to me- at his own pace, in his own environment. It is my hope that this level of intimacy comes across to the viewer.
