Yael Kahn

Yael Kahn, an Israeli anti-genocide activist now living in London, has been a vocal anti-Zionist since 1972. Her transformation was sparked by reading Sabri Jiryis' book "The Arabs in Israel," which exposed her to the realities of Palestinian life under Israeli occupation.

Yael's activism began in Haifa, where she campaigned at the Technion and supported solidarity movements with Jenin. In 1988, she was arrested in East Jerusalem for protesting the forced opening of Palestinian shops, but defended herself and was acquitted.

During the First Intifada, Yael traveled regularly to Gaza and the West Bank to support Palestinian women prisoners. She organized protests outside prisons, which led to her arrest. In 2012, Yael successfully led a campaign that prevented Veolia from securing a £4.7 billion contract from seven north London boroughs.

Yael has been arrested twice for expressing her opinions, including saying "Nazi Israel" in 2023 and 2025. Born Kahn, she changed her Israeli ID to Oren while campaigning for civil marriage, and is now known by this name internationally.

Yael's activism is deeply personal, as her childhood home was built on land taken from Palestinians who were forced into Gaza in 1948. Her experiences have fueled her commitment to fighting for Palestinian rights and speaking out against Israeli policies.
