About the Film
2019; 70 Minutes, Arabic with English Subtitles.
The testimonies of people born and lived in Jaffa before 1948, almost all forced into the diaspora. Memories and archival documents describe life in Jaffa before the Nakba and allow you to travel through a vital and exciting city, from the most important neighborhoods and streets, sports markets and clubs, to social and cultural life, to cinema, schools, the citrus industry. The last part of the film tells what happened to the homes and families of these witnesses and the painful decision to leave the city to escape the raids and massacres.
About The Director
Raed Duzdar is an independent Palestinian filmmaker and researcher. He has born in Jerusalem, and has a master degree in Business Administration. His interest of oral history of Palestine made him change his career path. Raed started his cinema world as a researcher of documentaries, and a producer and then a filmmaker.
He is the author of the documentary “Jerusalem Calling” (2011), a history of the Arabic section of the Palestine Broadcasting Service and of “Lama Brothers (2013), the Palestinian brothers who played a central role in the history of Arab cinema, and “the Samaritans on the footsteps of Moses “ (2010).
His latest project is a documentary film on Jaffa based on oral testimonies of its original inhabitants; also he is working on “Mosaics of Jerusalem”, a series about minorities and sects in Jerusalem.
Raed’s documentaries considered as living documents about the unknown history of Palestinian people. His films won many prizes, and were screened in many film festivals around the world.
