Amal Murkus who hails from Kafr Yasif (the Galilee, Palestine) will provide a musical workshop and then with her son on the Kanun perform many pieces showcasing a variety of traditional and modern Palestinian musical genres.

Amal Murkus, born 11 July 1968, is a Palestinian singer, actress, and producer of musical and cultural radio and TV programs. Her post-modern music style has a variety of Mediterranean influences. She has produced 5 albums: Amal, was released in 2000, Shauq, in 2004, Na’na’ Ya Na’na’ 2007, Baghanni 2011, and Fath al War2015. Her songs take inspiration by Palestinian Folklore, traditional Arabic heritage, and pop music elements, and express the struggle against the marginalization and exclusion that Palestinian culture feels.
